The 71st Republic Day was celebrated in all its solemnity and grandeur at Saint Soldier International School, Sec 28 B, Chandigarh on 26th January 2020. The event began with the flag hoisting by the Chief Guest, Chairman, Mr. Ravinder Pal Singh Hayer. Director, Mr. Jagwinder Pal Singh Hayer and Principal, Ms. Vijaya Sidhu graced the occasion with their presence. Ridhi of Class VII brought alive the stage with the passion and love for the motherland through a speech on how the young generation of India is committed to the cause of India’s progress and development. There was an evocative poetic recital on the poem ‘India’ by the students of Class VI and VII. The choir group presented the patriotic song ‘Hai Preet Jahan Ki Reet Sada’. This was followed by a beautifully choreographed dance performance. The students wore tri-coloured wristbands and badges to mark the occasion. The NCC cadets demonstrated their skill with a smart drill and pledged themselves to uphold the honour and integrity of India. The teachers also participated with great zeal and gave a musical performance on the song ‘Aao Bachho Tumhe Dikhaye Jhanki Hindustan Ki’. The whole school joined the choir and sang the patriotic song ‘Saare Jahan Se Acha’ which reverberated in the surroundings. Principal, Ms. Vijaya Sidhu in her address highlighted the significance of the day and made the children aware of their responsibility as future citizens. The event ended on a joyous note and the students dispersed with the image of the fluttering tricolour in their minds.
