A 7 day NSS Camp was conducted under the theme of ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ and ‘Disaster Management’ at Saint Soldier International School. The Camp’s Opening Day started with a talk by Dr. Seema where she apprised the volunteers of health and hygiene by educating them about the good practices that prevent diseases. She also informed the students about maintaining sound health especially through cleanliness, proper sewage disposal and supply of safe drinking water.
The Camp included presentations of NSS Songs, poems and oath for Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. During the week the Volunteers paid a visit to the Senior Citizen Home to meet and spend time with the elderly. Next, under the guidance of Yoga expert, Ms. Jaswinder Kaur, the volunteers refreshed themselves from stress by performing yoga and got enlightened about the various benefits of the same. Further a stress management session was organised where the resource person was Sister Poonam from Prabhu Upvan Meditation Training Centre Brahma kumaris, Sector 28, Chandigarh recommended by NSS Department. A drill on disaster management and cleanliness drive was also held during the camp. The seven day camp turned out to be a great learning experience for the Volunteers working under the guidance of NSS Programme Officers Mr. Manoj and Mr. Manmohan and Principal Ms. Vijaya Sidhu.
