The students of Class V of Saint Soldier International School, Sec 28 B, Chandigarh mesmerised everyone with their class presentation on ‘The Harvest Festivals of India’ and ‘The Importance of Grains’. Being the colourful nation that India is, the most vibrant harvest festivals of India involve interesting mythological legends and joyous celebrations. The students exhibited different scenes to highlight different festivals like Pongal, Bihu, Baisakhi, Gudi Padwa and Onam. A variety of dances like Bhangra, Bihu, Sobha Yatra and dance of Chattisgarh were presented. The students enthralled everyone with their acting skills through two skits based on the story of story of Vamana and King Mahabali. Anik Mittal acted as Vamana and Nirupam acted as Mahabali. The second skit was based on the toil of the farmer and value of grains. Ashish acted as a farmer, Angel as farmer’s wife and Chirag Bansal as an NGO worker. Also the work of many charitable organisations like ‘Feeding India’ was highlighted for their role in collecting excess food from marriages and parties and delivering it to the needy. Beautiful dance performances by the students added colour and enriched the presentation.
