Saint Soldier International School, Sector 28 B, Chandigarh celebrated the festival of lights ‘Diwali’ with great enthusiasm and devotion. A special assembly was conducted by students of Class VIII C on ‘Clean and Green Diwali’ to sensitise the students about the harmful aftereffects of bursting fire crackers. Shivang and Ridhi conducted the event. Gitika, through her speech, educated the students about the hazardous effects of burning crackers and encouraged them to celebrate this Diwali in an eco-friendly way. Highlighting the plight of animals, birds and children, the students enacted a play to convince the audience to give up crackers. The sonorous song by the choir enthralled the audience. A pledge to celebrate Diwali in a clean and green way was taken by students to embark on their concern for the environment and become the future ambassadors of saving the world. The assembly culminated with a graceful dance performance conveying joyous Diwali greetings. Principal Vijaya Sidhu appreciated the efforts of the students in spreading the message of a cracker free Diwali and she urged the staff and students to make sincere efforts to protect the environment by not bursting crackers.
