Host Saint Soldier lifts CBSE Cluster XVII Football Tournament Trophy 2019

Hosts Saint Soldier International School, Sec 28 Chandigarh lifted the prestigious CBSE Cluster XVII Football Tournament 2019 in the final match against Chitkara International School, Sec 25 Chandigarh in U-19 Category. The toughly contested match led to a goal less draw followed by a penalty shoot out that resulted in a victory of 5-4 for Saint Soldier International School, Sec 28 Chandigarh. Shobhit Bhandari and Kapil of the host team were awarded with the Best Player and the Best Goalkeeper. Sajan of Chitkara International School was plumed as the Best Defender.

In U-17 Category, Chitkara International School, Sec 25 Chandigarh beat Bhai Nand Lal Public School, Anandpur Sahib with a magnificent win of 2-0 and won the trophy. Gurnoor Singh and Rahul of Chitkara International School were crowned as the Best Player and the Best Goalkeeper. Harmanjit Singh of Bhai Nand Lal Public School was honoured as the Best Defender.

The closing ceremony of CBSE Cluster XVII Football Tournament 2019 was held on 15 October at Saint Soldier International School, Chandigarh. Beginning on October 12, the tournament drew 73 combative teams across Chandigarh, Mohali, Patiala, Sangrur, Muktsar and Bathinda that exhibited 4 day long high velocity football matches. As the players battled it out for the prestigious trophy, ecstatic shouts and cheers of football enthusiasts turned the atmosphere electrifying. Neck to neck competition was witnessed as the teams did not allow the opponents to break the shackles laid by them.

The esteemed Chief Guest, School Director Mr. Jagwinder Pal Singh, Director Mr. Amarinder Pal Singh Hayer, Ms. Vijaya Sidhu, the Principal of Saint Soldier International School, Sec 28 B, Chandigarh graced the closing ceremony. The chief guest presented the Champion Teams with the prestigious trophy, medals and certificates. The prestigious event celebrating true sportsmanship culminated with the glory and grandeur of the game in the hearts of the football admirers. Principal Ms. Vijaya Sidhu extended her warm congratulations to the school team and football coach Sudhir Saini. She also thanked all the participating teams for their unparalleled enthusiasm.
