Saint Soldier International School, Sec 28 B, Chandigarh celebrated ‘Kargil Victory Day’ on 26 July 2019 with great zeal and fervour. Students from Class Pre Nursery to XII gave rich tribute to the armed forces of India and recalled their sacrifices for the country through an array of different interesting activities. The tiny tots of KG B marked the day with a patriotic morning assembly under the topic ‘Three Armed Forces’ and filled every heart with feelings of nostalgia with their group song ‘We are Indians’ followed by a talk where Akshay, dressed in the uniform of Lieutenant of the Indian Army, Vanshika as Flying Officer and Deepanshu portraying a naval officer threw light on their roles in the Indian Army. Pragya of VII D gave voice to the feelings of the famous poet Shri Makhanlal Chaturvedi by reciting his poem ‘Pushp Ki Abhilasha’ in the morning assembly. Aditya and Chinmay delivered a speech which submerged the audience with great pride and respect for Indian soldiers who laid down their lives for the motherland on this day. Harmehtab, Kartik, Hardit and Rahul of Class XI left everyone mesmerized with their speeches on ‘Bravery’. Class teachers of Classes I to VIII interacted with students to make them aware of the significance of ‘Vijay Diwas’ in Indian History. A Painting Competition was also held where students of classes VI to X painted their sheets with the colours of patriotism. The Kargil tribute song created by our Indian Army as a tribute to the war heroes was shown to the Junior Wing. NSS Wing also highlighted their sacrifices by showing a documentary on ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’ to the students of the Senior Wing which instilled utmost respect and gratitude for our forces that safeguard the country from internal and external exigencies. The students participated enthusiastically in all these activities and made the day memorable for one and all.
