Libraries today are more than repositories for books and other resources. To inculcate the habit of optimal utilization of library resources, Saint Soldier International School, Sec 28 B, Chandigarh organised an array of spellbinding activities over the first term for Junior and Senior Classes. These ranged from areas such as creative development, problem solving skills and exploration to increase the students’ interest in reading and to engage them on the path to being lifelong readers. Book Reading Competition was organised for Class I to judge reading skills. Dhruv (I A), Seerat (I B), Nishita (I B), Prateek (I C), Anay (I C) and Shrishti (I D) secured first position. Class II students participated enthusiastically in a Library Quiz in which Aditya Bhatnagar (II D) bagged the first position. Class III students involved themselves in the activity – ‘Guessing the name of a story’ by making creative Book Covers. Varsha (III D) and Tegpreet (III C) secured first position. Class IV students had a Story Telling Activity in which Prakriti (IV B) won the first position. Mohd Ayaz V A won the ‘Illustrations’ Activity while Aditya VI B won the ‘Parts of a Book’ Competition. Harpreet VII D stood first in the Themed Bookmark Activity. Kartik (VIII B) answered maximum correct answers in the Newspaper Quiz Activity and bagged first position. ‘Explore the Library’ activity was organised for Class IX. Diksha (IX C) secured first position.
