International Red Cross Day was celebrated at Saint Soldier International School, Sec 28 B, Chandigarh with a morning assembly conducted by the NSS Wing of the school. Manjot and Krish enlightened the audience on World Red Cross Day which is celebrated every year on 8th May as the birth anniversary of Henry Dunant, the founder of International Committee of Red Cross. The students informed everyone how this day has become an important day in the history of the world by playing significant roles in life saving events as well as assisting the socially and economically vulnerable people all around the world. To emphasize the same Garima recited a meaningful poem.
Further Anju and Prabhleen gave a speech on World Red Cross Day to pay homage to all the stewards who dedicate their lives towards mankind. They apprised everyone how this day is commemorated by people at the international level to alleviate people’s sufferings and to protect their lives during emergencies, natural calamities, war etc. Then all the students took the Red Cross pledge to promote their humanitarian activities. The assembly closed with the recital of the national anthem.
