The NSS Wing of Saint Soldier International School, Sec 28 B, Chandigarh organised an event to mark Red Cross Day under this year’s Red Cross theme of ‘Love’. The day is observed on May 8, on the occasion of the birthday of Henry Dunant, the founder of International Red Cross Society. Dr. Seema gave a speech on history, achievements and objectives of Red Cross Society. Further, she demonstrated a lifesaving Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) technique, useful in many emergencies including heart attack or near drowning situation in which someone’s breathing or heart beat has stopped. Following this, a talk was given to the students of XII Commerce by Diksha XI Commerce in which she highlighted the importance of the day and said that World Red Cross Day is celebrated by people at the international level. A pledge was also taken at the end by the students that they would uphold the fundamental principles of this organization and also an appeal was made to all students to become volunteers for this noble cause.
