Cordova Publication Workshop

As a part of the initiative to implement innovative practices in learning Hindi Grammar and Mathematics, a workshop for all Hindi and Math teachers of the school was conducted under the aegis of Cordova Publication on 8th April 2019. It was an interactive session under the guidance of the resource person, Mr. Sohan.

OPEN HOUSE’2019

Students of Class XII Science visited Punjab Engineering College, Sector 12, Chandigarh on 16th April 2019. PEC have been organizing the Open House for the last ten years and this was the 11th edition of Open House at PEC. Open House, is one of the best technical project display platform for school students to inculcate curiosity. The entire event was organized by Career Development & Guidance Centre (CDGC).

Peace Club Teachers Training Programme

Yuvsatta (Youth for peace) organized Peace Club Teachers Training Programme – celebrating 150th anniversary year of Mahatma Gandhi. This NGO is working in a variety of areas to steer the people towards implementing Gandhian ideals. Peace clubs are formed to engage young minds for a better world. Peace club plays a very positive role in spreading the virtues of truth, tolerance, nonviolence, forgiveness and harmony in the society. Many teachers of various schools were present in the workshop and shared the activities which they are doing their schools.

Conference on Teaching History

During this conference Ms. Romila Thapar a well-known historian taled about the Religion and Region of Punjab. Mr. B.N. Goswamy delivered a lecture on the Mughal Ramayana and Jaina Shahnama. Mr. Krishan Kumar made an attempt to showcase the impact of partition on both the nations. Ms. Urvashi Butalia talked about the after effects of partition i.e. the refugee crisis. What happened to currency, to different institutions – museums, colleges, newspapers etc.

Hubs of Learning

CBSE has conducted a workshop on 22nd April 2019 at Delhi Public School, Chandigarh to formation of Hubs of Learning for collaboration among affiliated schools for self-improvement and quality enhancement. The theme of the workshop was Experimental Learning.

Capacity Building Programme on Issues and Challenges of Adolescent Education

The workshop was organized by Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights in collaboration with State Legal Services Authority, Chandigarh on 21st May 2019. The main objectives of the workshop were:

  • To understand relevant laws relating to Chandigarh including Juvenile Justice Act, POSCO Act, NDPS Act and IT Act.
  • To understand Psychological issues and challenges of working with adolescents.
  • Understanding and role of counsellors dealing with adolescent issues.
  • Preparing a road map for adolescent education.

Orientation Programme for PISA

An orientation program for PISA was organized at St. Kabir School, Sector 26, Chandigarh, DAV Model School, Sector 15 A, Chandigarh and Delhi Public School, Chandigarh on 16th May, 23rd and 24th May 2019 respectively. The aim of the programme was to make teachers aware about PISA, how the questions will be framed to make students capable to appear and succeed in PISA 2021 and what additional syllabus to be covered at Classes 7, 8 and 9.

Oxford Publications Workshop

Oxford Publications conducted a workshop for the teachers of Classes IV to VIII on 23rd May 2019 in school campus. Ms. Vineeta Sareen, the resource person briefed the teachers about different parts of the books at different levels. She discussed the back exercises given in the main course book which are based on the four skills that are Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing.

Ratna Sagar Publications Workshop

Ratna Sagar Publication had organized a workshop in school for teachers on 23rd May 2019. The resource person Mr. Amit Sood had shown a PPT to make learning interesting for students.

TATA Education Solution

A workshop was organized by Tata Education Solution in school for all teachers on 23rd May 2019. The resource person had introduced their software and how to make lessons easy by using their software.

ENT Workshop

ENT Workshop was conducted by a doctor from Dr. Bedi’s Hospital, Sector 33, Chandigarh on 24th May 2019 in which Dr. Bedi had explained the Do’s and Don’ts while dealing with ENT periphery. It was an interactive workshop wherein, the teachers equally participated in the workshop.

Orientation Session on Hubs of Learning for the principals of the lead collaborator schools

An orientation session on Hubs of Learning for the principals of lead collaborator schools was organized ate Moti Ram Arya Sr. Sec. Model School, Sector 27 A, Chandigarh on 30th May 2019. The aim of the workshop was to welcome schools to Hub or learning as the lead collaborator school, to define and clarify work, roles and responsibilities and motivate principals to build positive connection among school for an inclusive educational community.

Teaching Pronunciation by British Council

A workshop on Teaching Pronunciation was held at British Council office in Elante Mall, Chandigarh on 20th July 2019. Teacher from various school of tricity have attended the workshop. The concept of phonetic sounds of consonants, vowels and diphthongs through audio video aid was made clear. Various activities related to intonation, sentence stress and contrastive stress were undertaken.

Fevi Create by Pidilite

A workshop for Art & Craft teachers was organized at Hotel Sky on 27th July 2019 by Pidilite Company. The main purpose of the workshop to introduce new type of Fevicol product named as A+ fevicol which is very useful in making various projects of Maths, Science etc. The resource person has also introduced new clay and dough for craft.

WOW Publication Workshop

WOW Publications have organised an informative workshop for English teachers in school on 27th July 2019. The resource person Mr. Piyush Sharma made the teachers aware about the digital content and teachers resource kit of the books that are in the course. The teachers were also made aware about the fiction Express an online reading platform that constitutes 110 story books.

KIPS Workshop

A workshop was conducted by KIPS was organized on 31st July 2019 at I.S. Dev Samaj School, Sector 21, Chandigarh. In the workshop they introduced the software ‘OneNote’ and also told about the main advantages of ‘OneNote’ software over Microsoft Word.

Value Education

CBSE has organised a workshop on 8th August 2019 at Guru Nanak Public School, Sector 36 D, Chandigarh. The topic of workshop was ‘Value Education’. The resource person Mr. Madan Lal explained the necessity of Value Education in schools. Further effective teaching methods for Value Education were suggested.

Workshop on Presenting and Practicing Language

Teacher training workshop for English Language Teacher was conducted by British Council Library on 10th August 2019. The aim of the workshop was to equip the teachers with effective methods, resources, practical ideas and activities that they can implement in their own classroom situations. The topic of the workshop was ‘Presenting and Practicing Language’ wherein the meaning, structure and importance of grammar was explained.

AIFF Referees Development

AIFF Referees Development Programme was organised by Chandigarh Football Association from 15th August 2019 to 18th August 2019 at Sports Complex, Hockey Stadium, Sector 42, Chandigarh. The instructor Mr. Bikram Singh and Mr. Rizwan from AIFF Delhi inform the participants about laws of the game and recent changes in rules. The course was consisting of theoretical and practical training about the game.

Workshop on Python Language

A workshop was organised on 23rd August 2019 at St. Joseph Sr. Sec. School, Sector 44, Chandigarh by CBSE. The topic of workshop was Python Language. The resource person Ms. Urvashi had introduced the Python Language. She had given the overview and how to run the script of the Python. She also told about the Data Types, variables, input statement & print statement which is used in Python.

CBSE COE Workshop

Two day workshop was organised by CBSE on 26th August and 27th August 2019 at Gurukul Global School, Manimajra for Science Teachers. The resource persons were Dr. Rakesh Sehgal and Mrs. Devendar Mahal. In workshop details about bloom’s taxonomy was explained. Dr. Rakesh Seghal had also highlighted the importance of teaching science and how it can be made interesting.

Science PISA Workshop

A workshop on PISA Science assessment was conducted on 27th August 2019 at DAV Model School, Sector 15, Chandigarh. The resource person elaborated about contexts for items in the PISA Science assessment. The topics were Health and disease, natural resources, environment quality, hazards and the frontiers of science and technology.

Yuvsatta Story Telling Workshop

A workshop on Story Telling was organised by NGO Yuvsatta on 29th August 2019. The aim of the workshop was to enhance the story telling skills of the teachers and students. In workshop the resource person Mr. Kannan Krishnaswamy talked about various important aspects of storytelling.

Maths PISA Workshop

A workshop on PISA Maths assessment was conducted on 3rd September 2019 at Govt. Model Sr. Sec. School, Sector 40 B, Chandigarh. The resource person had explained about PISA exam and various domains which have to be focused with the help of video and PowerPoint presentation.  Different test levels and types of questions were also explained.

Enrichment programme for Business Studies teachers

An enrichment programme for Business Studies teachers was held at Shivalik Public School, Sector 41 B, Chandigarh on 7th September 2019. The resource person Mr. G.S. Alag explained the recent changes in question paper pattern and introduction of OTQs / MCQs.

Zero Investment Innovation for Education

A workshop on Zero Investment Innovation in Education practices were organised at Khalsa Collegiate School, Sector 26, Chandigarh on 12th September 2019. The resource person elaborated on different innovation practices being implemented by teachers’ ideas at different levels in different states.

Capacity Building Programme by CBSE Life Skills

A workshop was conducted on ‘Life Skills’ by CBSE on 14th September 2019 at Saint Soldier International Convent School, Phase 7, Mohali. The resource persons elaborated all three types of life skills – thinking skill, social skills and emotional skills and explained that how these skills help in overall development of students, making them more responsibly healthy and resilient later, various stages of child development were also discussed and the resource person explained that life skill education can be promoted by creating a friendly, supportive, stimulating and structured learning environment.

Orientation program Preventive measures on Drug demand reduction at School level

An orientation program was organised by Social welfare women and child development, Chandigarh Administration on 18th September 2019 at Panjab University, Chandigarh. Under this programme all Principal, Heads of Govt./Private Schools participated. The objective of the training program was to enhance the understanding of the participants on psychoactive substances, its consequences etc. Apprise them about the National Action plan on drug demand reduction stigmatization including preventive measures, the modus operandi to implement the action plan at school level.

Classroom Management by CBSE

Two days workshop was conducted by CBSE on ‘Classroom Management’ in RIMT World School on 20th & 21st September 2019. In these two days workshop, the resource persons explained what is classroom management and its importance. They also explained the components of effective classroom management. Many topics were explained with the help of individual activities Group activities were also conducted in the form of case study and act on the given situation.

Times NIE Teacher’s Meet 2019

The Times of India NIE, in association with Fortis Hospital, Mohali, organised the teachers Meet 2019 on 26th September 2019, where in an eye opening session was conducted for the teachers of the Tricity Schools.

The highly informative talk related health issues was held in the hospital auditorium which was attended by 60 teachers. The key topics of the discussion were ‘Breast Cancer’- when to panic? And ‘Headache- what all you should know?

Psycho-social Adversity and Child Development Workshop – PGIMER

The Pediatric Psychology unit and Social Pediatrics unit, Department of Pediatrics, PGIMER, Chandigarh organised a one day workshop on 4th October 2019 on “Psycho-social Adversity and Child Development”. The workshop targeted for all professionals working with school children inducing pediatricians, school teachers, counselors, special educators, psychologists, and post graduate students of psychology/ child development.

Dr. Bhavneet Bharti explained – Childhood psycho social adversity as the threats caused by various levels of deprivation. These threats included children being ‘Neglect’, institutionalized’, ‘Poverty’, ‘Community Violence, ‘Domestic Violence, Physical and Sekual Abuse’.

Cultural Program Celebrating 150th Birthday of Gandhi Ji’

A Cultural program was conducted for celebrating 150th Birthday of Gandhi ji in Bhavan Vidyalaya. It was attended by renewed schools of Chandigarh. The workshop was conducted by the eminent historian Dr. B. N. Goswami. The Chief guest was the advisor to the Administer U.T. Sh. Manoj K. Pardia.

Art of Story talking

Story talking workshop at British Council Elante Mall on 15th October 2019 was organised by British council in Elante Mall 8 step pyramid method was discussed during the session.

The importance of visualization of story was told alogwith the under feet, temperature, sound smell etc. Story narration is all about the above mentioned points and stress was laid to plot it in a way that it caters to these points.

Workshop on Gender Sensitivity

Workshop on ‘Gender Sensitivity was organised at Ankur School, Sector 14, Chandigarh on 19th October 2019 to understand the concept of Gender and Sex. First of all, they delivered a lecture to make awareness of Gender and difference b/w gender and sex. Ms. Vikas Beniwal made it very clean with the help of handouts also. Many key terms were discussed related to Gender E.g. Gender equality, Gender equity, Gender discrimination, Gender gap, Gender Stereotype, Patriarchy, Gender awareness etc. Ms. Aruna Sharma told about the ‘Role of Power in Gender Relationship’ and ‘Gender Based violence’. She also related the topic with real life incidents to make it very clear. Even we can see those circumstances in school also. She also discussed about general practices of promoting Gender sensitivity in schools. In the end they showed is various videos also. Overall it was very informative workshop.
